Biography
Paul is a PhD student in the School of Anthropology & Development Studies, in the University of Adelaide, supervised by Dr Dianne Rodger, and Associate-Professor Andrew Skuse. His research is in the area of human-non-human relations within electronic music production, a field that aims to understand the way technology interacts with human subjectivity. His research explores the concept of the future, and the power of the imaginary in everyday activity. He is currently conducting an ethnography into the practices, values and beliefs of electronic music producers in Adelaide. Paul is seeking participants to discuss their electronic music practice. Interviews are expected to last for approximately one hour and will cover the context of commencing electronic music practice, the story behind favourite pieces of equipment or software, the extent technology-use is integrated into a participant’s life, and how creative technology use relates to personal belief systems. Producers and deejays at various levels of experience are welcome.
