Biography
Professor Philip Mohr is a behavioural scientist who specialises in health psychology and survey design. His main research interests concern how people reason about health and food and the implications of this for health communication and behaviour change strategies. A current multidisciplinary focus is on understanding factors motivating non-medically prescribed food avoidances. Prof. Mohr’s previous appointment was as Research Scientist at the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), where he initiated the national omnibus Food & Health Survey for the monitoring of consumer attitudes and behaviour. Before CSIRO, he worked at the University of South Australia, where he taught social psychology and research and evaluation methods; his research focus at this time was predominantly on social and forensic psychology. Phil Mohr’s record of engagement with government and industry bodies ranges from commissioned research and evaluations to advisory roles: providing input on research design and interpretation as well as substantive questions of consumer behaviour. His objective in such activities is the delivery of practical, comprehensible solutions with a sound basis in behavioural science.
