Biography
Tom is currently an accredited Surgical Registrar in Adelaide, South Australia. He is training in Paediatric Surgery with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. He recently completed his doctoral studies as a John Monash Scholar at Imperial College London under the supervision of Professor Lord Ara Darzi and Professor Guang-Zhong Yang. Laboratory work for this thesis, titled "Clinical Application and Evaluation of Robotic Surgery in Children", was conducted at The Hamlyn Centre for Robotic Surgery. With engineer colleagues, Tom was involved with the early development of a novel robotic platform for endoscopic surgery named the CYCLOPS. This platform was successfully filed for patent and remains in prototype phase testing with motivation for clinical translation in the near future.
