Biography
My studies focus on the host cell immune and inflammatory response to microbial infection associated with periodontal disease, specifically Porphyromonas gingivalis. In addition, a key area of interest is exploring the relationship between periodontitis and systemic diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis in terms of adjunct therapy to standard treatment regimes. I have extensive experience relating to detection and quantification of inflammatory mediators locally in the oral cavity, gums and tissues, particularly gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) utilising multiplex and ELISA's in addition to a number of molecular biology techniques and cell culture.
