Biography
Xin Yuan, also known as Vernon, is fascinated by the effects of AI on our contemporary daily lives. As a result, he is now enthusiastically involved in many developments of intelligent robotic systems to investigate more efficient approaches to AI functions and is focusing on methods of constructing Artificial Intelligence and Agent-based systems. He believes that, by improving developing methods and processing efficiency, AI developments could have more advanced impacts on our lives. With this advanced computational method, he is seeking to develop techniques to duplicate low-level bio-inspired AI features. Currently, Xin Yuan is undertaking research at the University of Adelaide on a new form of cognitive architecture, which is using a parallel processing production rule-based methodology called Street. With this advanced computational method, he is seeking to develop techniques to duplicate low-level bio-inspired AI features. A case study is the simulation to the honey bee’s landmark based homing behaviour. In the natural environment, the honeybee could recognise significant objects from the background and use them as reference for memorizing routine on foraging. Xin’s current project is duplicating these features into modules of an agent based autonomous system to be able to record the sequence of characteristic objects appears and track back to the initial position by allocating each recorded places.
