Biography
Dr Savin Chand received his PhD from the University of Melbourne in 2011. His research expertise has been on numerical and statistical modelling of extreme weather and climate events, particularly tropical cyclones, and climate change. Prior to joining the Federation University as a lecturer, Dr Chand worked as a research scientist at the Bureau of Meteorology from 2011 to mid-2013. He has a number of scientific publications in the top international journals. Most of these publications are in the field of extreme weather events and climate change. Dr Chand is also an internationally recognised expert on tropical cyclones and climate change. At present, he is working on a number of projects in collaboration with the Australian Bureau of Meteorology and the University of Melbourne.
