Biography
My research interests centre on the criminal justice system, with a particular focus on cybercrime. Other areas of research are evidence law, homicide, victims of crime, and DNA identification. My approach is based on legal analysis i.e. bringing together an understanding of applicable legislation, cases and relevant policy documents, but also incorporating some criminological background. In the area of cybercrime, this is exemplified by my book Cybercrime: Legislation, Cases and Commentary (LexisNexis Butterworths, 2015). I also write updates for Halsbury's Laws of Australia (LexisNexis) in cybercrime and homicide, and research articles / book chapters in these areas. I regularly give conference and seminar presentations overseas, most recently as an invited keynote speaker in Japan and Germany (June 2015) and a Japan Society for the Promotion of Science Invitational Fellowship to Chuo University in Japan (April 2016).
