Deb Hitchen-holmes

Biography

"Deborah Hitchen-Holmes has been involved in health care since 1984 starting a career in nursing as an Enrolled Nurse before completing her Bachelor of Nursing Science degree in 1994. Since then she has worked as a Registered Nurse throughout Australia in an assortment of clinical areas such as medical, surgical, intensive care, and palliative care, prior to specialising in the area of nephrology nursing including acute / chronic haemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, pre & post transplantation care. She has completed a Graduate Certificate of Nephrology Nursing from Edith Cowan University, Western Australia. Deborah commenced employment at the University of the Sunshine Coast in 2006 as clinical facilitator, follow this as the Coordinator of the Clinical Nursing Spaces, before transition in 2010 into a position of academic lecturing and Course Coordinator, at the same time completing a Master’s qualification of Advance Practice with the University of the Sunshine Coast. Deborah’s interest in the field of Nephrology Nursing continues as she teaches in the area of nursing related to person living with chronic and progressive illness and the area of healthcare practices in a community model. Deborah is enrolled part-time as early candidature of PhD."
