Biography
"Dr Richard White has a broad background with a career that includes working in Australia, the United Kingdom and Thailand. As an engineer, Dr White spent 18 years in various industries (iron and steel, coal, pharmaceuticals, water, and textiles) with roles in production, maintenance, and senior management. He has chartered engineer status in both Australia and the United Kingdom. Dr White then joined Deakin University for eight years in the School of Engineering and Technology. At the University of the Sunshine Coast, Dr White was the foundation engineering program leader, established and co-ordinated the Tertiary Preparation Pathway (an alternative entry to university for students without the traditional Year 12 entrance requirements), and now leads the Integrated Learning Pathways Unit (an engagement program that offers Year 11 and Year 12 students the opportunity to study undergraduate courses whilst still in secondary school). He teaches across the engineering programs, with a focus on sustainability, engineering practice, engineering projects, and water supply and wastewater treatment systems. He has taught environmental management, engineering management, sustainability, risk management, engineering audits, OHS, water supply systems, wastewater treatment and management, and engineering innovation and entrepreneurship. He has published in the areas of wastewater management, sustainability, alternate energy, and engineering education. He is a consultant in environmental management and engineering risk management, and has worked with international agencies such as AusAID, and IDP."
