Biography
Dr Ryan is the Director of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry at Sydney's Westmead Hospital and an Associate of Sydney Health Ethics.Though his work is primarily clinical, he maintains an active research programme and a keen interest in medical education. He is Chair of the NSW Section of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry and immediate past Chair of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists Committee for Advanced Training in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry. He is on the National Advisory Board of the Australian and New Zealand Journal of Psychiatry and a member of the Editorial Committee of Australasian Psychiatry. Research Interest
Dr Ryan has a long standing interest in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry and Medical Ethics and the Law. His numerous publications - available here - have covered such areas as delirium, body integrity identity disorder, deliberate self-harm, risk categorisation, patient-therapist sexual contact, mental health legislation, advance directives, physician-assisted dying and euthanasia.
