Biography
Dr Geoffrey Herkes is a consultant neurologist with clinical and teaching appointments at the Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH), North Shore Private, and Sydney Adventist Hospital. He trained at Sydney University, and received his PhD from the University of Queensland, before spending 3 years at the Mayo Clinic, USA. He is currently Senior Staff Specialist in Neurology at RNSH and Clinical Assoc. Research Interest
The major research interests of Dr Herkes include neuropharmacology, neurophysiology and epilepsy. He has been an investigator in over 60 clinical trials. Major interests and active projects involve status epilepticus, prolonged neurophysiological monitoring in ICU, new pharmaceuticals, ethics in medicine, and medical law, as well as clinical trials in stroke, epilepsy and multiple sclerosis.
