Biography
Smita is the Director of the Primary Health Care Education and Research Unit at Westmead Hospital, Western Sydney Local Health District. Smita has developed, evaluated and managed programs and research projects in immunisation, asthma, promotion of healthy lifestyle, obesity prevention and Aboriginal health which have fostered and strengthened partnerships at national and international levels. She has been an outstanding advocate for effective education and training in lung health and healthy lifestyle to improve health outcomes. Smita has produced comprehensive teaching resourcesto enable dissemination and ensure the long term sustainability of evidence based health promotion programs. The programs have attracted local, national and international attention, including recognition as good practice programs by UNICEF MENARA (Middle East and North Africa Regional Office).
