Biography
Professor Steve Elliot came to The University of Sydney in 2002 from the University of Newcastle where he had been Professor and Head of the School of Business. Previously, he had been Director of the IT Research Centre at the University of New South Wales. Business Innovation and Transformation driven by Environmental Sustainability Steve has extensive industry and international experience and his research work is directed toward the development of theory in the strategic management of technology-enabled business innovation. His research has been published in international journals, refereed conference proceedings and an internationally acclaimed book examining successful B2C electronic commerce initiatives in six countries. His research interests have been supported by grants from the Australian Research Council, the US National Science Foundation and from local and international corporate sponsorships. His current research projects focus on providing assistance to corporations and other organizations seeking to make meaningful contributions to the challenges of environmental sustainability, through technology-enabled innovation and business transformation. Steve heads the Business Environmental Sustainability Research Group in the University of Sydney Business School Steve's community contributions include: Director of the Information Systems Board of the Australian Computer Society; foundation Chair of the UN-sponsored International Federation of Information Processing Working Group 8.4: E-Business Information Systems: Multidisciplinary research and practice; and Co-Chair of the Economic Opportunities Commission for the inaugural World IT Forum focusing on the global Digital Divide.
