Biography
Dr. Vijaya Murthy’s research and teaching interests at the University of Sydney Business School include management accounting, management control, sustainability management accounting, corporate social reporting, accounting history and intellectual capital. Her doctoral thesis examined the manner in which managers mobilized non-financial information to make decisions. Vijaya has lectured on undergraduate and post graduate accounting units in topics related to management accounting, financial accounting and designing accounting systems. Responsibilities include coordinating management accounting units at undergraduate level. She has supervised HDR students (Honours degree). Vijaya has worked on various Management Accounting projects with senior colleagues at Sydney University, Copenhagen Business School, Denmark and University of Innsbruck, Innsbruck. Vijaya’s career started in India where she has worked as lecturer in various Colleges affiliated to The University of Madras and Bangalore University for 8 years before moving to Australia in 2001. Prior to her full-time appointment at the University of Sydney, Vijaya had worked for a National Bank in Australia for three years and also taught at Macquarie University on casual basis for four years.
