Biography
From Perth, Heather moved in 1983 to New York to study clarinet with Leon Russianoff at The Juilliard School, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Music and a Master of Music. She debuted at Carnegie Hall in 1990, as a winner of the Artists International Musician Series In 1992 she was awarded a DMA from the Manhattan School of Music and in 1993 she returned to Australia to work as a freelance performer and clarinet teacher in Sydney until 1997. In 1998 Heather came to the University of Tasmania.
Research Interest
Heather's research aligns to the University's research theme of Creativity, Culture and Society. Her research interests include Australian and British Clarinet music from 1880 to 1960 and curriculum design.
