Biography
Karen completed her PhD at the University of Tasmania in 2000, and then completed two postdoctoral research positions before taking up a lecturing position in 2008. From 2001-2003, she conducted research on disease management in Indonesian acacia plantations (ACIAR-funded project), and from 2004-2007, completed an ARC-Linkage postdoctoral fellowship examining plant responses to stress for detection via remote sensing. From 2008-2011, she then conducted research for the CRC Forestry in plant responses to defoliation.
Research Interest
Karen's research aligns to the research theme of Environment, Resources and Sustainability. She is committed to supporting forestry and agriculture using sustainable management solutions to manage plant health and disease. This includes sustainable management of disease via use of integrated pest management and fungicide alternatives.
