Biography
Michael is currently a Research Fellow and Public Health Academic in the School of Medicine, and Research Officer at General Practice Training Tasmania. Michael has conducted several projects in the Menzies Institute for Medical Research, the University Department of Rural Health and the Schools of Medicine and Health Sciences at the University of Tasmania. He has also conducted projects for General Practice Training Tasmania and the Tasmania Social Determinants of Health Advocacy Network. Prior to moving to Hobart, he was a Deputy Director of the South Australian Community Health Research Unit at Flinders University. He is an Adjunct Research Fellow in the Southgate Institute for Health, Society and Equity at Flinders University and holds full academic status as Senior Lecturer in the School of Medicine at Flinders University.
Research Interest
Michael's research aligns to the University's research theme of Better Health. His research interests include the social and ecological determinants of health. His research journey traverses medical research at the Adelaide Children's Hospital, regional planning and research in rural South Australia and the work of the South Australian Community Health Research Unit (SACHRU) at Flinders University. Since moving to Hobart, Michael has worked with the Menzies Institute for Medical Research (MIMR), General Practice Training Tasmania (GPTT), the Centre for Rural Health, and the Schools of Medicine and Health Sciences at the University of Tasmania.
