Biography
CIA Eri (DVM, PhD) is a veterinarian turned biomedical scientist with an emerging international reputation in the field of mucosal biology/immunology. His research interests include understanding the role of inflammasomes, chemokines (CCR6 and CCL20), IL-23/TH17 pathways in both murine and human IBD. Additionally, Dr Eri conducts research into the efficacy of natural products (bitter melon, raw banana, yogurt) in the treatment of IBD and a number pf pre-clinical studies are being carried in that direction.
Research Interest
Raj's research aligns to the University's research theme of Better Health. He has significant expertise in the fields of colitis and IBD that includes a multitude of animal models of colitis. Furthermore he was the first to describe the ER stress induced molecular pathology of a novel murine model of spontaneous colitis-Winnie. All the clinical, histological, immunological and immuno-histochemical methods have been optimised and being in current use in his research laboratory.
