Dr Fabio Sonvico

Biography

Dr Fabio Sonvico is a pharmacist graduated from the University of Pavia with a degree in Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technology (1999). After completing an Honours year at Bayer Italia, Fabio received his Ph.D. in 2004 with a co-tutorial research project between University of Parma and the University of Paris XI focused on the application of metal nanoparticles to the targeting and treatment of tumors. During this period, he was awarded a grant from the French Association for Cancer Research (AIRC) and received the 2ème Prix de Thèse of the University of Paris XI. After working at the Italian National Institute for Physics of the Matter (INFM), Fabio joined the Pharmaceutics group of the University of Parma as Lecturer in Innovative Dosage Forms. In 2012, Fabio has moved to Australia to be part of the newly established Graduate School of Health at the University of Technology Sydney. He is author more than 40 papers, he co-authored 5 book chapters, has more than 50 contributions and has delivered several oral lectures to international scientific congresses. In recent years, he has been regularly appointed as Invited Professor at the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy of the University of Lyon I and has been giving lectures at the University of Strasburg (France). He received a Brain Gain grant from Malaysian Government and worked at the National Institute for Nutraceuticals and Pharmaceuticals - IPharm in Penang (Malaysia). Dr Sonvico has acted as reviewer for a number of the most important research journals in the field of pharmaceutical sciences (J. Control Rel., Int. J. Pharm., Eur. J. Pharm. Biopharm., Eur. J. Pharm. Sci., J. Pharm. Sci. etc.). In addition to this, he has acted as reviewer for the Italian Medicines Agency (AIFA), the French National Research Agency (ANR) and the British Bioscience Research Council (BBSRC).
