Biography
Dr Zhen Luo received his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from "National Engineering Research Centre for CAD", Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), Wuhan, China in 2005. After that, he worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), the University of Sydney (USYD), and the University of New South Wales (UNSW) for 7 years. In March 2011, he joined the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology (FEIT) at the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) as a Chancellor's Postdoctoral Research Fellow. From October 2012 to December 2016, he was a Senior Lecturer, and he has been an Associate Professor with UTS Mechanical Engineering since Jan 2017.

Structural topology optimization; Uncertain analysis and design optimization; Sampling and surrogate modeling for approximation optimization; Additive manufacturing of micro- and nanostructured composites; Design of electromagnetic, acoustic and mechanical metamaterials; Biomechanics and biomedical designs; Energy harvesting systems; Multi-scale modeling and simulation of nanocomposites.
