Biography
Dr Sommerville is an Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in knee, hip, lower limb trauma surgery and orthopaedic oncology/musculoskeletal tumour surgery. He also has a particular interest in primary and revision total joint arthroplasty and musculoskeletal tumour surgery. Dr Sommerville was educated in Brisbane and received his medical degree from the University of Queensland in 1990. He completed his orthopaedic training in 2000 and was granted a Fellowship of The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. He gained further experience in total joint arthroplasty and orthopaedic oncology at the prestigious Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in Birmingham, UK. Dr Sommerville is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland, and is also an adjunct senior lecturer at The Diamantina Institute (formerly The Centre for Immunology and Cancer Research). He has been with The Wesley Hospital as a Visiting Medical Practitioner since 2003 and has appointments at other Brisbane hospitals in both the private and public
