Chris Powell

Biography

Chris is Vice President, Translational Medicine & Comparative Pathobiology at GlaxoSmithKline R&D. Previously, he worked in the UK Biopharmaceutical Industry and was Reader in Pharmaceutical and Chemical Safety at “St Bartholomew’s Hospital Medical School, University of London. He studied at the University of Wales, Imperial College University of London the University of Surrey and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists. Chris is a member of the British Pharmaceutical Industries Association Committees on Experimental Medicines and Experimental Safety, a member of the Strategic Governing Group for the European Union “Innovative Medicines Initiative” on Translational Safety and a member of the UK Govt’s Advisory Committee on Carcinogenicity. Research interests include the translational relevance of experimental safety studies and early epigenetic and molecular changes in chemical carcinogenesis
