Biography
Prof. Krammer is Associate Professor for Microbiology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (ISMMS), New York. Dr. Krammer is co-author of more than 50 scientific publications and book chapters and is a renowned scientist in the fields of influenza research and vaccine technology. He was the first one to produce insect cell based virus-like particles (VLPs) of the 2009 flu-pandemic strain H1N1 (referred to as "swine flu"). His research is focused towards universal influenza virus vaccines that induce protective levels of broadly neutralizing antibodies against the conserved stalk domain of the hemagglutinin protein. Dr. Krammer also co-developed a vaccine approach that showed to elicit protective heterosubtypic immunity in animal models. This approach is currently in the process of advancing into clinical trials.
