Biography
Julian Hunt is a Postdoctoral Research Scholar at IIASA where he is collaborating with the Energy (ENE) and Water (WAT) programs in collaboration with the CAPES (Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior, Education Ministry) Brazilian Foundation for support researchers. Currently, his research at IIASA aims to improve water management, hydropower and energy storage through seasonal pumped-storage plants. Dr. Hunt joined IIASA from the National Commission for Nuclear Energy in Brazil where he was working on a hybrid nuclear generation and seawater desalination project. He holds a D.Phil in Engineering Science from the University of Oxford, where he developed a decision support system to optimize energy and water projects in the UK. He also holds a B.Eng degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Nottingham. Previously, Dr. Hunt worked at the Energy and Climate Change Branch of UNIDO.
