Biography

Dr. Jay Johnson is a behavioral scientist, social psychologist, sociologist, public health educator, management and policy law expert, epidemiologist, bio-statistician, metric analyst, data management, bioethicist, Chaplain and Physician Assistant. He is currently working at UT-MDACC and the Texas Medical Center in oncology. He also serves as a medical Officer in the U.S. Army Reserve where he applies his clinical and administrative skills. His research skills span a range of methods from ethnography to complex statistical analysis of archival data sets, large-scale surveys, and complicated and sophisticated clinical trials. He has a great deal of NIH, CDC, ONDCP, and Texas State DHHS funded project experience on both qualitative and quantitative research and program evaluation studies, and has a substantial eclectic number of peer-review publications covering many and varied topics related to his diverse career. He received his doctorate from UTHSC-Houston-SPH in community medicine and bio-statistics and has an additional health management degree from the University of Alabama and a degree in moral theology and bioethics from Holy Apostles and Catholic Seminary where he completed seminary. His eclectic training and previous practical research experiences equip him with an uncommon array of knowledge, abilities, skills, and optics vital to the successful design, implementation, management, completion, and reporting of programs and research studies.
