Biography
Peter Rössler was born 1969 in Vienna, Austria. He studied Electrical Engineering at the Vienna University of Technology and graduated as "Dipl.-Ing." with honors in 1996. His doctoral thesis (received in 2001 with honors) discusses hardware support for control network protocols. During his studies he was a member of the technical staff of the European Forum Alpbach for almost a decade. From 1997 to 2005 he worked as a "Universitätsassistent" at the Institute of Computer Technology (ICT), Vienna University of Technology in teaching and research. He was co-founder and member of LOYTEC electronics GmbH, a spin-off of the Vienna University of Technology, until 2000. Peter Rössler is full-time employee at the University of Applied Sciences Technikum Wien since 2005. Besides his work as a lecturer he is managing R&D projects in the field of embedded systems. His main research interests cover topics like CPLD/FPGA design, digital ASIC design, PCB design and ESL design as well as control networks (fieldbus systems). He was involved in projects with partners like, e.g., Motorola/USA, PICAR Mobile Speech Technologies/Germany, the Austrian Institute of Technology, Oregano Systems GmbH, Siemens PSE PRO CES, RISE GmbH, Logotronic GmbH or the Vienna University of Technology. Peter Rössler is author of 50+ technical articles which are published in books, conference proceedings and related scientific journals. He is member of various program committees of international scientific conferences like IEEE/ASME MESA, ECSI S4D, IEEE ICSS (International Conference on Complex Systems), IEEE ICM (International Conference on Microelectronics) or IEEE ICELIE (International Conference on e-Learning in Industrial Electronics) as well as national conferences, e.g., Austrochip or MESS (Microelectronic Systems Symposium). Furthermore, he is scientific advisory board member of the ÖVE (the Austrian Electrotechnical Association), Financial Auditor of the IEEE Austrian Section, Chair of the GMS (the Austrian Society of Microelectronic Systems), editorial board member of the Journal e&i (Elektrotechnik und Informationstechnik) as well as jury member of the Invent-a-Chip/AT initiative. From 2012-2014 he was Chair of IEEE Austrian Section. He has worked as a reviewer for numerous conferences and journals like, for example, IEEE ETFA (Emerging Technologies and Factory Automation), EURASIP International Journal on Embedded Systems, IEEE HCI (Conference on Human System Interactions), IEEE ICIT (International Conference on Industrial Technology), IEEE IECON (Industrial Electronics Conference), IEEE INDIN (International Conference on Industrial Informatics), IEEE ISIE (International Symposium on Industrial Electronics), IEEE OPTIM (International Conference on Optimization of Electrical and Electronic Equipment), EUROMICRO SEAA (Conference on Software Engineering and Advanced Applications), IEEE Transactions, ...
