Biography
Karin Anna Hummel holds a master's degree and a Ph.D. degree (Ph.D. degree received in 2005, with distinction) in computer science both from the Vienna University of Technology, Austria. After five years of employment at Siemens Austria/PSE working on network management tools for communication and computer networks, she joined the University of Vienna as a junior researcher in computer science in 1998. After accomplishment of her Ph.D., she held the position of a senior researcher and lecturer in computer science at the University of Vienna from 2005 to 2011, focusing on energy-efficient wireless networking, human mobility characterization, and opportunistic networking. In 2011, she was awarded a Marie Curie Fellowship (2011). From 2011 to 2015, Karin Anna Hummel was a senior researcher in communication systems at ETH Zurich. In 2015, she changed to Johannes Kepler University Linz and was appointed as Assistant Professor in November 2015.
