Biography

With a background in Electrical Engineering, Myneni obtained her doctoral degree in Health Informatics from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. Myneni’s research employs data-driven methods and theoretical models at the intersection of social media analytics, behavioral science, and health consumer needs analysis. Her focus is on applying computational, automated text analysis techniques and network-based methods in analyzing the microstructure of human behavior in real-time environments. Specifically, her previous work focused on analyzing how health behavior change occurs in users of an online social network for smoking cessation. Dr. Myneni’s work encompasses the adaption of existing health interventions in the context of mobile platforms through utilization of interactive user engagement strategies that are theory-driven and empirically-valid. The practical contributions of her research include development of analytic tools that effectively analyze consumer-generated online network content, and transform health resources into consumer-facing socio-behavioral interventions that are adaptive, engaging, and sustainable. Myneni’s work has been published in the American Journal of Public Health, Journal of Biomedical Informatics, Persuasive Technology, Annals of Information Systems, Medinfo, and American Medical Informatics Association Annual Symposium.
