Biography

A. K. M. Rashidul Alam is an Associate Professor of the Department of Environmental Sciences at Jahangirnagar University (JU), Bangladesh. In August 2002, Rashidul Alam joined as a Lecturer at the Department of Environmental Sciences of JU. In December 2005, he was promoted as an Assistant Professor. In March 2014, Rashidul Alam was upgraded as Associate Professor at the Department of Environmental Sciences of JU. Rashidul Alam acquired Ph.D. degree from Graduate School of Environmental Sciences of Hokkaido University, Japan. He completed B.Sc. and M.Sc. (Thesis- Ecology and Environment) in Botany from the Department of Botany under the Faculty of Biological Sciences of Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh. Since 1999, Rashidul Alam has been conducting research on various aspects of environmental issues, especially on ecology & biodiversity, meta-community ecology, marine bioinvasion, wastewater treatment with aquatic macrophytes (phytoremediation/bioremediation of pollutants), biomonitoring and mitigation of pollution, climate change and indigenous adaptation practices.
