Biography
Born in 1970, was brought up and finished primary, secondary and higher secondary school education in Dhaka. Obtained BSS and MSS from Jahangirnagar University in Anthropology in 1990 and 1991. Later did a MA in Comparative study in Women and Politics in 2004 from Utrecht University, The Netherlands. Finally achieved a PhD from Lancaster University, UK in 2014 in Gender and Women Studies. The research was on Childlessness in Bangladesh in the context of the advent of In vitro Fertilisation in the country. Have been teaching in the Department of Anthropology in Jahangirnagar University since 1997, although had joined in the dept of Anthropology in the Shahjalal University of Science and Technology in 1995 as a pioneer teacher. Besides academic activities, have been engaged in activism to challange all kinds of opressions while focuses on gender inequality. Also, is working as a member of the joint editorial team of Public Nribiggayan, a publication of book series.
