Biography
Ilhami has a law degree from Ankara University, a Master degree in International Human Rights Law (2002) from Lund University, and a PhD (2007) from Kent University (UK). He was awarded post-doctoral grant from the Swedish Research Council for Environment, Agricultural Sciences and Spatial Planning (FORMAS) about “What role for soft law in developing, implementing and enforcing the climate change regime?” at SOAS, London University. From 2009 to 2017, when he joined RWI he worked as Ass. Prof. in international law at Istanbul University. During this period, he was a guest lecturer at Lund University for one year and also contributed several educational programmes here, such as Social Innovation in a Digital Context, an international master programme at Internet Institute of Lund University. 2015-2016 Ilhami has acted as lecturer and mentor for a SIDA-financed Lund University programme: Les droits de l’enfant dans le contexte de la salle de classe et de la gestion de l’école, covering children’s right to education in six French-speaking African countries. His working and research areas include international law; international soft law; international regulations against corruption; human rights and digitalisation; and environment and human rights.
