Jan Beeckmans

Biography

Jan Beeckmans, born 20th September 1954, has studied Master in Applied Economics and is the current General Director of the University Hospital Brussels. He started his career at the University of Ghent as Researcher on the organization of the Hospital Sector. After that he conducted several positions such as Staff Member at the Department of Economic Affairs for the City of Ghent; Staff Member Healthcare Sector for the Study and Documentation Centre Emile Vandervelde (S.E.V.I.) which is a research center of a political party; Financial Director at the University Hospital Brussels and Coordinator of the Centre of Health Economics and Hospital Policy at the University of Brussels. During this period Jan Beeckmans was a Lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Brussels, regarding Hospital Financing Systems.
