James G. Cullen

Biography

  Mr. James G. Cullen, also known as Jim, served as the President and Chief Operating Officer of Bell Atlantic Corporation from 1997 to June 2000. Mr. Cullen served as the President of Verizon Communications Inc. from 1993 to February 1995 and also served as its Chief Operating Officer. He served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Bell Atlantic-New Jersey Inc. from April 1989 to February 1993. He served as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Telecom Group of Bell Atlantic from 1995 to 1997. He held management positions with New Jersey Bell from 1966 to 1981 and AT&T from 1981 to 1983. He has considerable managerial and operational experience and expertise from his senior leadership position with Bell Atlantic and its predecessors. In addition, he has significant public company director experience and perspective on public company management and governance. Mr. Cullen served as the Chairman of Neustar, Inc. at November 2010 until August 8, 2017. He served as the Non Executive Chairman of Agilent Technologies, Inc. since March 1, 2005 until March 15, 2017. He served as chairman of Bell Atlantic Corporation from 1993 to June 2000. He served as Vice Chairman of Verizon Communications from February 1994 to February 1995 and also from 1995 to 1997. He served as a Director of Neustar, Inc. since 2005 until August 8, 2017 and also served as its Lead Independent Director. He serves as Lead Independent Director of Avinger, Inc and has been its Director since December 30, 2014. He has been a Director for Prudential Insurance Company of America, the Investment Manager of The Prudential Variable Contract Real Property Account, since April 1994. Mr. Cullen has been a Director of Agilent Technologies, Inc. since April 2000, Keysight Technologies, Inc. since October 31, 2014 and Quantum Bridge Communications Inc. since June 2000. He serves as a Director of Agilient Technologies, Inc. and Prudential Life Insurance Company. He has been a Director of Avinger, Inc. since December 30, 2014. He serves as a Trustee of Eisenhower Medical Center, Inc. He served as Lead Independent Director of Prudential Financial, Inc., since May 2011 and its Independent Director since January 2001 until May 9, 2017. He served as an Independent Director at Johnson & Johnson from 1995 to April 23, 2015 and served as its Presiding Director. He served as a Director of First Fidelity Incorporated since 1989. He was appointed by the Chief Justice of the New Jersey Supreme Court. He serves as a Member of Board of Overseers at Rutgers University Foundation. Mr. Cullen holds Bachelor's Degree in Economics from Rutgers University and Master's in Management science degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
