Philippe De Somer

Biography

Born on 17 May 1951, in Charleroi, Belgium, Belgian nationality. After being educated in Switzerland, Gérald Frère joined the family company, Frère-Bourgeois group (Belgium), where he took up the duties of Managing Director. He is also Chairman of the Board of Directors of Loverval Finance S.A. and a Regent of the National Bank of Belgium. He was appointed to the Board of Directors of Groupe Bruxelles Lambert in 1982. In 1993, he was named Managing Director and Chairman of the Standing Committee, duties he held until he retired at the end of 2011. He has been Chairman of the Board of Directors since 1st January 2012.
