Dolf Van Wijk

Biography

 Dolf Van Wijk was appointed to Executive Director of Euro Chlor on 1 July 2015. Dolf joined Euro Chlor, the Brussels-based federation representing the European chlor-alkali industry, in 2001 as Science Manager. He provided advice and counsel to the federation’s committees and working groups on chlorine-related science issues, including risk assessments. In 2010 Dolf was appointed Science and Regulatory Affairs Director reflecting Euro Chlor’s policy of science-based decision-making and transparency about chlorine chemistry. Since 2014 Dr. van Wijk is also acting as Managing Director for the World Chlorine Council, a global cooperation of the chlor-alkali industry representing over 90% of the world’s chlorine production capacity. His extensive international experience includes active participation in the UNEP Stockholm Convention on POPs and the Minamata Convention on mercury. A Dutch national, Dr. Van Wijk was employed by AkzoNobel from 1990–2001 as manager of the firm’s Laboratory of Environmental Chemistry in Arnhem, The Netherlands. Dr. Van Wijk obtained a PhD in 1989 at the Radboud University of Nijmegen.
