Hartwig Wendt

Biography

Hartwig Wendt joined Cefic in March 2015 as Executive Director. He started his professional career in 1996 as a scientist in Research & Development at Bayer. After serving in various business positions of R&D and Marketing, he became Director for Corporate Advocacy in 2002 and was assigned responsibility for international HSEQ management. From 2005 to 2007 Hartwig served as assistant to the CEO. In 2008 he joined the central department Corporate Development and was then promoted to Head of Strategy Bayer MaterialScience. As Vice-President Corporate Development of Bayer, he became the lead strategic advisor in 2014 for carving out the materials business of Bayer, which operates today under the name of Covestro. After performing his compulsory military service Hartwig completed his academic studies at the Universities of Göttingen and Berlin (Free University), graduating with a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry in 1996.
