Biography
Ahmad Wali Ahmad Yar is a research assistant within the Economic Policy Unit at CEPS. He is collaborating for the “Mercator Dialogue on Asylum and Migration” project whose role is to draw up strategies for European asylum and migration policies from an economic perspective. Prior to this, Ahmad Wali studied International Relations in Kazakhstan where he also worked as an interpreter for the UNHCR and as a Public Relations officer in Ariana Social Centre, an NGO working for the social uplifting of the Afghan diaspora in Central Asian states. He then completed a masters’ degree in Political Science in Brussels, focusing his research project on Afghan refugees. His areas of expertise are asylum procedures, refugee issues, family reunification procedures and Central and South Asia. His ability to speak several languages allows him to gather significant information for his research.
