Biography
Mr. Patrick Van Beneden, Sc, M.D., FRCP, FRCR, FRSE, FMedSci serves as an Executive Vice-President of Life Sciences and Partner of GIMV NV. Mr. Van Beneden is part of Healthcare team and heads up the life sciences business unit in early and late stage investments and is a member of the GMV Partners' Council. He worked at GIMV since 1985. He has 20 years experience at GIMV and is responsible for its investment portfolio in life sciences. He joined GIMV in 1985 and served as Vice President of Life Sciences. He serves as the Chairman of the Board of AgroSavfe NV. He served as the Chairman of the Board of ActoGeniX. He has been a Member of the Board of Directors at St. Jude Medical GVA S.a r. l. since September 2009. He serves as a Director of Complix NV, G-Therapeutics SA, FlandersBio , Intrexon Actobiotics N.V. (formerly ActoGeniX), Endosene, Acertys, Psychiatric Genomics, Inc., Xantos Biomedicine GmbH, deVGen NV, Vitromics and Biotech Fonds Vlaanderen. He serves as a Member of Supervisory Board at Xantos AG. He is observer at EndoStim Mr. Van Beneden has been a Member of the Supervisory Board at PamGene International B.V. since December 2000. He serves as a Member of the Advisory Board at Oxford BioScience Partners and Sofinnova SA. He serves as an Observer and on the Board of JenaValve Technology GmbH. He served as a Director of Astex Therapeutics Limited and CropDesign N.V. He served as a Member of Supervisory Board at Prosensa Holding B.V. from June 14, 2013 to June 17, 2014. He served on the Board of Innogenetics, Crop Design, Ablynx and Hypnion, Inc. He served as a Director of Raptor Pharmaceuticals Corp. until May 29, 2009. He served as a Director of TorreyPines Therapeutics Inc. from October 2006 to May 29, 2009. He served as a Director of Avalon Pharmaceuticals, Inc. since October 2001. He served as a Member of Supervisory Board at Crucell N.V. until June 3, 2004. He has built a track record in life sciences, both in early and late stage investments and successful exits. Mr. Van Beneden holds a Masters Degree in Applied Economics and a Bachelor's degree in Financial Sciences from Vlekho, Brussels.
