Biography
Dr Clare Clarke was a Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist within the NHS prior to completing a PhD in physical activity monitoring at Glasgow Caledonian University in 2013. She currently works in the Division of Cardiovascular and Diabetes Medicine, University of Dundee as a Clinical Academic Research Fellow. Her research interests include the role of exercise and physical activity in sarcopenia and age-related functional decline. She is current Secretary for the Musculoskeletal Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (MACP) and is a member of the Research Subgroup of the Scottish Government/NHS Chronic Pain Steering Committee and of the Scottish Pain Research Community (SPaRC)
Research Interest
Worked on the MRC funded "Engaging with Older People to Develop and Deliver Interventions for the Self-management of Chronic Pain" (EOPIC) programme, writing up a qualitative systematic review on older adults' experiences of self-managing chronic pain from 2013-2014. Currently Investigator on the Allopurinol in Functional Impairment (ALFIE) Trial - "Improving muscle strength" - A Prospective Study to Evaluate the Effect of Allopurinol on Muscle Energetics in Older People with Impaired Physical Function.
