Biography
I am a Senior Research Fellow working within the Quality, Safety and Informatics Research Group at the University of Dundee and am funded by a Primary Care Research Career Award (PCRCA) from the Chief Scientist's Office. I received my MD from the University of Dundee in 2009. My interest in quantitative research including Generalizability (G) Theory began with a sabbatical at McMaster University in 2003.
Research Interest
My current research focus is on systems of medical assessment of professional performance, including potential applications for: medical appraisal, medical professional revalidation and undergraduate medical education. Work to date has included the research and on-going development of an e-portfolio, Tayside Insightful Practice Portfolio (TIPP), to investigate the utility of the concept of learners' insight into their self-assessed personal development needs when presented with credible independent feedback on performance.
