Richardson Cara

Biography

Cara is a research assistant with the chronic pain research group and was appointed to her current post in September 2016. Prior to this she graduated from the University of Strathclyde in 2015 with a BSc(Hons) in Psychology and then completed an MSc at the University of Strathclyde in Clinical Health Psychology. Cara is currently working with Professor Blair Smith, Professor Lesley Colvin and Dr Paul Cameron to develop national outcomes for chronic pain services.

Research Interest

Cara is involved in research which aims to determine, in three specialist pain services in NHS Scotland, the processes of collecting routine data on services, processes and outcomes, and their utility for addressing questions relevant to service improvement. Based on this research a proposal will be made on an approach to measuring pain services that will inform service evaluation and improvement, including a core dataset and the development of Quality Performance Indicators (QPIs). She is also involved in the development of an evidence based guideline on the management of chronic pain in children.
