Biography
Cory Kaplan became an assistant athletic trainer at Florida Atlantic University in March 2016. He provides primary coverage for men’s basketball and golf while assisting with women’s basketball, indoor volleyball and beach volleyball. Kaplan is also responsible for supervising the graduate assistant athletic trainers, coordinating nutritional and mental health services for all student-athletes and managing physicals and medical clearance for FAU’s Olympic sports. Prior to joining the Owls, Kaplan was a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Louisiana Tech while pursuing his master’s degree. His primary responsibility was football and women’s basketball but also worked with men’s and women’s basketball, fall softball, track and field and women’s soccer. He managed distribution and collection of all necessary medical paperwork and had oversight of training room supplies and inventory. Kaplan also coordinated medical coverage for sport-related camps held at the university. While working toward his bachelor’s at the University of Florida, Kaplan worked with the football and men’s basketball teams as well as Eastside High School as an athletic training student. He also worked major events including the 2013 NCAA Women’s Soccer Tournament, 2013 NCAA Gymnastics Regionals, 2012 NCAA Volleyball Regionals, 2011-2013 Tom Jones Memorial Classic and Pepsi Relays and 2010 SEC Swimming and Diving Championships.
