Biography
Katherine Luhring brought her vast skill set to the Florida Atlantic University Sports Medicine team in March 2017. She will work with the football team alongside Rudy Rodriguez and John Burnside as well as be responsible for women's tennis. Prior to joining FAU, Luhring spent eight months as a sports medicine intern at SMU assisting with football and serving as the head trainer for women's basketball. During that time, she also worked for the Dallas Mavericks serving as the athletic trainer for the NBA officials and spent time at the Cotton Bowl working with the University of Wisconsin during pre-bowl game practices. In her time at Arkansas, while working toward her masters degree, Luhring worked with the Razorbacks' football team as well as men's and women's cross country and track and field. She also published research in the Journal of Athletic Training regarding treatment of exertional heat stroke, which is the topic she pursued for her thesis. During the summer of 2015, Luhring was an athletic training intern at Arkansas. She assisted the certified athletic training staff with care of the football team during summer workouts and provided coverage and hydration for youth football camps hosted by the team throughout the summer. Before that, Luhring was an intern with the Sacramento Kings assisting in practice, game coverage, and daily rehabilitation of NBA athletes and solely responsible for game day treatment and taping of referees.
