Simon became Chief Financial Officer in April 2011 after joining as Chief Financial Officer Designate in January 2011. He is a member of the Board and the Corporate Executive Team. Simon joined GSK from Goldman Sachs International where he was a Managing Director and Partner. He joined Goldman Sachs in 1995, becoming Head of UK Investment Banking and later becoming a leader of the European Mergers and Acquisitions business.
As part of his role at GSK, Simon is responsible for Global Finance and Core Business Services comprising a number of the company’s key global functions including Finance and Real Estate. He worked with GSK for over a decade prior to joining the company and was closely involved in a number of GSK’s most important strategic projects during that time, including the establishment of ViiV Healthcare. After receiving a Masters degree in Geography from Oxford University in 1985, Simon joined S.G. Warburg Group, the investment banking firm which specialised in mergers and acquisitions, becoming one of its youngest directors in 1994. Simon was Chairman of the 100 Group of Finance Directors between 2014 and 2016.
