Biography
She obtained a PhD degree in Veterinary Medicine in the lab of Parasitology, Ghent University. The subject of her research project was 'the analysis of the activation associated secreted protein family in the abomasol nematode Ostertagia ostertagi'.She was involved in the investigation of the basic mechanisms underlying Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease. The role of mitochondrial protease was studied by determining and validating its degradome. The last 2 years, she mainly focussed on mouse experiments, especially on mouse behavior and brain histology. She served to monitor the compliance of the ethical code related to the animals at Gasthuisberg.She is presently serving as scientist in Regenesys.
