Jan Secher

Biography

Jan Secher is President and CEO of Perstorp Holding AB, a specialty chemicals company based in Sweden with annual sales exceeding SEK 10 billion. He also serves as the non-executive director of Elekta AB. Jan began his career with ABB in 1982, where he held various leading management positions throughout his 20 years with the organization. During his tenure, he focused on automation and industrial IT for the process industries as well as robotics for discrete manufacturing, primarily the automotive industry.  During this time, Jan lived and worked in Sweden, U.S.A., Canada, Japan and ultimately Switzerland where he joined the ABB Executive Committee. In this role, he was responsible for the Manufacturing & Consumer Industries division, which yielded annual sales of 5 billion USD.In 2003, Jan assumed the role of CEO for Sicpa, a privately held Swiss company that specializes in security inks and conducts operations in 30 nations. Two and half years later, Jan was appointed the CEO of Clariant, a specialty chemicals company listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange.  He then joined Apollo Global Management in early 2009, a U.S. private equity fund, and served as an Operating Partner based in London. In 2010, Jan moved to Germany where he served as CEO and Chairman of the Management Board to Ferrostaal AG, a joint venture between the U.A.E.-based IPIC and German MAN. He joined Perstorp in September 2013. Jan is married with three grown children. He enjoys an active lifestyle, including sailing, skiing, hiking and cycling.
