Biography

Currently responsible for global R&D of Unilever's Baking, Cooking & Spreads Company and for Operations of Global Foods R&D. Studied Biology with specialisation Chemistry at the University of Utrecht followed by a PhD in Molecular Biotechnology at TNO The Netherlands.Started in Unilever in 1987 in Biotechnology research leading Unilever Biotechnology based in Vlaardingen and next moved to global product development in Foods. Became Foods R&D director of Latin America based in Sao Paulo Brazil. Subsequently moved to The Netherlands as Global Vice President R&D Culinary Products based.Member of global project team leading R&D in the acquisition and integration of Bestfoods followed by member of the Foodsolutions Executive responsible for global Foodsolutions R&D. In 2006 became responsible for all Foods and Home & Personal Care R&D resources in Europe creating the new Unilever Global R&D organisation. In 2010 moved to New York as member of the Americas Supply Chain Team responsible for Foods factories in North and South America. Moved to Schaffhausen Switzerland to set up the Americas Supply Chain Company.Became VP Global R&D Operations based in London and as such member of the Global R&D Leadership Team and Global Supply Chain Executive Team after which he assumed his current responsibilities. Married with 3 children, lives in The Netherlands and hobbies include football, gardening and reading.
