Biography

Silvio G.G. Ghyoot is President, Refining Solutions for Europe, FSU, Middle andIndia. In this role, Mr. Ghyoot is leading Albemarle’s Global Sales of Catalyst, comprisingthe Refinery Catalysts and the PolyOlefin & Chemical Catalysts. He also oversees Albemarle’s activities in Europe, Middle East and India including the Generalmanagement of Albemarle’s regional HQ’s and commercial offices in both the EUand MEIN regions. He is executing his current role from our regional HQ offices in Belgium. Prior to assuming this role in January 2014, Mr. Ghyoot served as Regional VP EurAsia, leading the regional sales efforts and taking care of the generalmanagement of Albemarle’s operations in Europe and Asia Pacific. Silvio took on this assignment in August 2012, after having served the companyas regional VP for Asia Pacific - based in Shanghai from 2010 through 2012 andManaging Director for Albemarle Europe - based in Belgium from 2009 through 2010. Silvio Ghyoot has been with Albemarle (and its predecessor Ethyl Corporation)since August 1990.During those 26 years with the Company, Mr. Ghyoot has held numerouscommercial and management positions of increasing responsibility, including Business Manager for Flame retardants in Europe, Sales Director Europe for Polymer Solutions Division, European Business Director of Albemarle’s Fluid Cat Cracking (FCC) Business based in Amsterdam and Vice President Sales Europe from the HQ in Brussels. Mr. Ghyoot started his career with Monsanto (Ghent, Belgium) and Kaneka (Brussels, Belgium), before joining Albemarle. Mr. Ghyoot is a native of Belgium, graduated as Chemical Engineer in Ghent-Belgium in 1987 and obtained a degree in Business administration in 1992 fromthe Leuven University.
