Biography
Specialist of the contemporary Arab world, Jihane Sfeir is a Doctor of History, Societies and Civilizations Orientales graduate of INALCO. Since 2009 she teaches at the Université Libre de Bruxelles where she teaches courses on the contemporary history of the Arab world, the Ottoman Empire and the relations between Europe and the Arab world. She is also responsible for the Contemporary Arab World Seminar (SMAC) and the Euro-Mediterranean University. His main publications focus on Palestinian refugees, history and memory in the Arab world with particular attention to Lebanon. His current research focuses on the manufacture, uses and practices of archives in the Arab world and on the memory of the Lebanese civil war.
