Joël Kotek

Biography

Lecturer at the Université Libre de Bruxelles, Joël Kotek holds a Bachelor's Degree in Contemporary History from ULB and a PhD in Political Science from the Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris. A former Fellow of the Wiener Anspach Foundation (a one-year stay at St Antony's College in Oxford), he taught for a semester at the University of Ottawa. In addition to ULB, he teaches at the Institut d'Etudes Politiques in Paris, where he defended his doctoral thesis and two DEA in European and Soviet and East European Studies. From 2003 to 2006 he was Director of Formation at the Shoah Memorial in Paris . He is a member of the Scientific Council of the Museum of the Shoah and the Human Rights of Mechelen and the editorial committee of the History Review of the Shoah of Paris. He is the Belgian correspondent of the Kantor Center for Combating Racism and Anti - Semitism at Tel Aviv University. His courses cover the history of European integration (ULB), the history of Central and Eastern Europe to the 19 th and 20 th centuries (IEP Paris and ULB) and on the Holocaust and Genocide in the 20 th century (ULB).
